The PS4 was named as the top console amongst developers in the newly published Develop 100 Tech List.
As voted for by our game industry judges, which included studio CTOs and indies, Sony’s new-gen hardware took 5th place overall.
It pipped Microsoft’s Xbox One, which made it into 7th place on the list.
Other platforms on the list include the Steam Machines, the potential of which saw our judges vote it to 15th place, and Nintendo’s Wii U at 32nd.
Nintendo’s 3DS was named the top handheld however, reaching 21st spot, just above Vita at 24th.
Develop 100: The Tech List was voted for by more than 45 chief technology officers, indie developers and other industry experts.
Credit card-sized computer Raspberry Pi was voted No.1 in the list. Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 meanwhile was named by developers at the top game engine having reached 2nd spot on the list, closely followed by Unity in 3rd.
