Renowned institute signs on as Event Partner for first conference from the Develop team

Abertay University teams up with Develop Live

Dundee’s Abertay University has joined forces with the Develop team for the upcoming Develop Live conference in October.

The conference is a one-day event that will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland on Thursday, October 2nd. It is the first conference curated and organised by the team behind the Develop magazine and website.

Last week, we closed our call for speakers – watch out for news on the first wave of sessions tomorrow.

Abertay University has signed up as the conference’s first Event Partner, and will be supporting the team as the event nears.

The university is perhaps best known for its Dare to be Digital competition, helping students create their first game from scratch. The contest culminates with the Dare Protoplay festival, which is being held in Dundee this weekend.

Professor Louis Natanson of Abertay University said: “Develop Live is an exciting new event and one Abertay University is proud to be supporting.

“Scotland has a rich, vibrant and innovative game development community, and events like Dare ProtoPlay in Dundee this week, and then Develop Live and Game Expo Scotland in Edinburgh in October, help everyone share their work, their learning and the challenges they’re facing.

“It’ll be great to bring together some of the phenomenally talented developers and teams we have north of the border, and welcome our colleagues from across the UK – and the world – to Scotland.“

Tickets cost £149, and competitive sponsorship packages are available. Contact for more information on booking your place or getting more involved with the event.

You can find more information at, and follow the event on Twitter via @DevelopLive for news and updates.

Develop Live takes place two days before Game Expo Scotland, a new consumer event that will be held in the Scottish capital across the weekend of October 4th and 5th. Find out more at

Game Expo Scotand is a media partner of Develop Live, while Develop and its sister title MCV are media partners of Game Expo Scotland.
