Compatibility update adds support for latest content programs

Alienbrain hits version 8.1

Softimage’s Alienbrain asset management system has been upgraded to version 8.1.

The version up is largely a compatibility update, adding support for the latest operating systems – Windows Vista and Mac OS X Leopard – and the most recent version of many content authoring programs such as Visual Studio 2008, Photoshop CS3 and Maya and Max 2008.

“This latest release of Alienbrain software underscores Softimage and Avid’s commitment to supporting open, mixed pipelines that empower artists,” said Marc Stevens, general manager of Softimage and vice president at Avid Technology, Inc.

“The beauty of Alienbrain is the tight integration it offers with art tools used by artists and game developers. Even if an artist doesn’t have an IT department, they can quickly and easily set up cross platform, cross application workflows in Alienbrain 8.1,” added Stevens.

The upgrade is available as a free download from the Softimage website.
