US Army moves future development to a studio 2,000 miles away

America’s Army studio axed

A day after the release of the semi-Serious recruitment title America’s Army 3, the US army has announced it has closed down the studio responsible for the game.

Deciding to “consolidate development”, the US army has shut down its studio in California, with the future projects earmarked to take place some 2,000 miles away at a U.S. Army post in Alabama.

The fate of the development staff is uncertain, though mass transfers are logistically unlikely.

“This consolidation will allow us to gain efficiencies between our public and government applications," a representative told Shacknews.

“We appreciate all the hard work that every member of the America’s Army team has contributed to the project, and we look forward to delivering future America’s Army game releases in the months ahead.”

America’s Army 3 was built around Unreal Engine 3, and is being digitally distributed via Valve’s Steam service.
