Update: Warner Bros has told retailer GAME to stop selling Batman: Arkham Knight on PC while it fixes the title’s problems, a GAME employee has told Eurogamer.
Original story: Warner Bros has suspended sales of Batman: Arkham Knight on Steam following reports of numerous bugs and performance issues.
Angry players have posted nearly 6,000 negative reviews on the Steam, noting poor framerates capped at 30fps, and not being able to run the title at full spec. Users have lamented the publisher and its developer Rocksteady for releasing a “terrible” PC port. Another player called it “one of the worst PC ports of all time”.
No significant problems have been reported on the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Arkham Knight. It is thought that work on the PC port was outsourced to another studio, as the game’s credits state PC support was supplied by developer Iron Galaxy. The studio has previously worked on titles such as Killer Instinct: Season 2 and Marvel vs Capcom Origins.
In response to the furore surrounding the state of the PC release, Warner Bros has pulled the game from sale while it works on improving the game’s performance. The publisher apologised to those who are experiencing performance issues, and said it is taking the situation “very seriously”.
PC players are able to obtain a refund thanks to Steam’s new refund policy. Consumers were also advised they can return it to the shop if they bought it at retail to get their money back. Those who have already purchased Arkham Knight will still be able to play it on Steam.
“We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards,” read a statement.
“We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.”
