New Scottish developer has ambitions to become a 'major contributor'

Beartrap Games is latest Scottish developer

A new studio, Beartrap Games, has been founded by four award-winning developers.

Located in Dundee, Scotland, Beartrap’s mission is to “become a recognised and highly respected multiplatform game development studio”.

“This is a very exciting time for the new company,” said Grant Alexander, commercial director of Beartrap Games.

“Although it is very early days, we have been overwhelmed by the support given by individuals from both the games industry and public bodies. As well as developing our own IP and concepts, we are focused on finding projects and partners to work with. We are in a great position to be able to grow quickly and can consider a project of any size.”

In addition to Alexander, the team at Beartrap includes creative director Fin McGechie, technical director Gordon McLean and operations director James Scanlan. They have won a clutch of awards between them – BAFTA and Develop among them.

Beartrap are yet to reveal their first project, but Develop will keep an eye out. However, the developer has said it plans to work on all major platforms and work on joint development projects.

The directors of Beartrap have previously worked on projects for Sony Computer Entertainment, Microsoft, Hooplo Media, AppyNation and the BBC.
