Social games giant adds to over 200 games on the browser-game store

Bigpoint joins new rush of Chrome devs

Bigpoint, the international social games developer, has become the latest firm to publish its games on the new HTML5-based Chrome Web Store.

The Hamburg-headquartered company has launched some of its most popular free-to-play games on Google’s new browser-based games portal, which opened in the US this week.

The Chrome App Store already boasts over 200 games with the likes of Jagex, Electronic Arts, Zynga and Digital Chocolate on board.

Bigpoint said next year it will add Unity-based titles to the Google online games platform.

“Since 2002, Bigpoint has grown quickly around the world by integrating our content into leading game portals, media networks, and online marketplaces,” said Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz.

“Adding our most-popular games to the Chrome Web Store will further grow our diverse community of users in the US and beyond.”

Bigpoint, which in 2008 sold half its business for $70 million, has operations running in Hamburg, Berlin, Malta, and San Francisco.

The company’s ongoing success comes from a range of social games, both in browser and on Facebook.

The firm’s closest rival, Zynga, is also expanding fast. The firm was recently valued above $5 billion.
