Sensible Soccer dev now in discussions with unnamed publishers

Cancelled Kickstarter is not the end for Jon Hare’s Sociable Soccer

Veteran games developer Jon Hare has cancelled the crowdfunding campaign for his new game Sociable Soccer.

The title, positioned as a spiritual successor to the classic Sensible Soccer games, attracted plenty of attention but funding has been slower than Hare had hoped.

He was originally asking for £300,000, but only managed to raise £32,498 from 1,767 backers. With not enough time to make up the rest, Hare cancelled the Kickstarter.

However, the developer assured Eurogamer that work on the game will continue, with a playable prototype already completed and the Kickstarter gaining the attention of several unnamed publishers.

“Much more than that I cannot say at the moment, except that development is continuing at full tilt and when we get nearer to confirming how we will be bringing the game to market we will be sure to let you know,” Hare told the site.
