Backend service provider introduces new pricing structure

Clan of the Cloud offers free backend service with unlimited MAU

Montpellier-based firm Clan of the Cloud has launched a free version of its backend SDK and claims devs will still not be limited to a set number of monthly active users.

The backend service provider has repositioned its prices, with the free version promising full SDK functionality on all supported platform, which includes C++, C#, JavaScript and Unity.

Devs will have access to virtual currencies, inventories, achievements, leaderboards, multiplayer matches, player management and more – and Clan of the Cloud promises no MAU cap.

The Advanced Plan, meanwhile, will add limited backoffice export options and support for Slack, a channel that the firm has been testing with clients for several months. It costs $2.50 per 1,000 MAU.

Finally, the Pro Plan costs $10 per 1,000 MAU and features the full backoffice tool, with API access, bulk push notifications and more. Slack and phone support is also included.

Both Pro and Advanced users will also be able to share all data across their entire games portfolio.

"The gaming BaaS market is getting extremely competitive", said CEO Michael El Baki. "Our research shows developers are uneasy with pricing models based on functionality.

“We give access to all SDK features in all our pricing tiers, and charge only for a few value-added services and the support level. Developers finally can build games with rich social features and complex game logic without worrying about ever increasing costs."
