New crowdfunding platform Fig has revealed it has received support from another notable developer: Cliff Bleszinski.
The man best known for creating Gears of War has invested in the platform and offered help to set up new projects – when he’s not developing his new studio’s debut title Lawbreakers, of course.
Bleszinski joins Double Fine founder Tim Schafer, InXile boss Brian Fargo and Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart, who have also assisted with the rise of Fig.
“We are super excited to welcome Cliff, a believer that Fig can help game makers find passionate supporters for their projects while retaining creative control,” founder and CEO Justin Bailey wrote in a blog post.
“As the only funding platform created by gamers for gamers that offers rewards and investment-based funding, we are grateful for our investors and advisors who are leaders in the industry – amazing to have you be a part of the Fig family, Cliff.”
Fig’s differentiation from other crowdfunding platforms is that it is focused solely on video games projects and curated by a panel of veteran developers, including the aforementioned icons.
It has already successfully funded Psychonauts 2, although Harmonix’s campaign for a PC port of Rock Band 4 and Scribblenauts dev 5th Cell have not been as fortunate.
The current campaign behind sci-fi adventure Consortium: The Tower will conclude is less than a week. It has already surpassed its goal of $300,000 and attracted the backing of former BioWare exec Greg Zeschuk.
