But German outfit hopeful on new contract and investment to keep company alive

Closure scare for Black Prophecy dev Reakktor

Hannover-based studio Reakktor Media is on the brink of closure after insolvency proceedings began against the company.

The Black Prophecy developer is still hopeful however on finding a new investor or contract to keep the studio alive and its 50 employees in a job.

"We have a team of 49 highly talented and motivated people over here with qualifications which go far beyond actual MMO technologies and mechanisms," Reakktor MD Kirk Lenke told gamesindustry.biz.

"We are in a position to accomplish basically anything what is played right now, even if we were focused in recent times on multiplayer mobile gaming.

“However, the MMO area is historically our organically grown core competence. With Black Prophecy and Neocron we have been the first in Germany who came up with a realtime action game in leading technological quality in the multiplayer category."

Reakktor’s potential closure is unlikely to affect online play of the developer’s free-to-play space combat MMO Black Prophecy, as the rights to the game are held by publisher Gamigo.
