Singer returns to Ninja Theory for second collaboration

Combichrist’s Andy LaPlegua composing Hellblade soundtrack

Combichrist singer Andy LaPlegua is composing the soundtrack to Ninja Theory’s upcoming hack n’ slash Hellblade.

The Norwegian musician has previously worked with the UK studio on DmC: Devil May Cry, where he worked on the soundtrack for the entire game. Songs featured in the title included Never Surrender and Throat Full of Glass.

In a post making the announcement, Ninja Theory chief creative officer Tameem Antoniades said he chose LaPlegua to compose the game’s music as he understood his vision for the game and the story he wants the music to tell.

"If we were doing a traditional commercial triple-A game, I would put my preferences aside but a lot of Hellblade is driven by our personal influences,” said Antoniades.

“I knew for sure that Andy could do the Viking battle music but unsure about other styles. But I thought it might make sense to put some faith in his musical ability and see what he can do. After all, that is a demand we put on ourselves, to work outside of our comfort zones so why not do the same with Andy?"
