Web content distribution portal offers new outlet for web-based gaming

Conduit unveils game-specific API

Browser-based game creators have a new outlet for their creations thanks to the release of a new API for the Conduit Platform specifically designed for web-based games models.

Compatible with Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, the apps can then also be submitted to the Conduit App Marketplace – a portal that the firm claims is used by in excess of 200k web publishers.

The API supports common web standards Flash, Java, HTML and Silverlight and includes standard functionality such as user log-in, virtual currency support and social network integration.

Existing successes include baconOppenheim’s Conduit-developed virtual pet game PiTSi, which has gained almost 4m users since going live on the Marketplace.

“This is a whole new way to play games that offers unprecedented opportunities for game developers to constantly engage users,” Conduit president Adam Boyden stated.

“Game developers can benefit from distribution to our huge network, while our web publishers can offer their users highly-engaging apps as part of their branded offering.”

Conduit’s current partners include the likes of Zynga, OurWorld.com, iWin and Playdom.
