Calls for entrants of The Future 500â??s media section

Courvoisier Future 500 looks for talented games developers

Courvoisier has launched The Future 500, a search for 500 talented individuals across the business world who show ‘the spirit and determination to get ahead’.

These people will be profiled in a supplement to be published alongside The Observer newspaper in November and will be invited to join a unique online space for networking and idea developing.

The list is divided into ten categories, with the Media category being judged by IGA Worldwide’s Ed Bartlett. An ex-developer himself, Bartlett is calling for entrants from the games industry to help show the validy of the medium and the talent in the industry.

“The media category is obviously going to cover advertising, the internet, all those kind of things, but gaming is an important part of media now,” said Bartlett.

“This is a good opportunity for game developers and technology people to get into this influential list and get some mainstream coverage. I think it’ll help make games be seen as valid a part of ‘media’ as any other, which I don’t think has particularly happened in the past.

“We’re looking for the sort of people who don’t just do game development as a job, they do it because they’re absolutely passionate about it. Those are the people who will succeed and have the passion to do so.”

People can nominate themselves without any fear of narcissism, and nominations are open until the end of August.

“There are so many talented forward thinkers in the games industry,” he concludes. “Don’t think ‘I’m not important enough for that sort of thing’ – we want as many applications as we can get!”

More information, rules and application information can be found at the Courvoisier The Future 500 website.
