Creative England announces £150,000 of grants awarded in Leeds

Creative England, an accelerator and investment outfit dedicated to helping the british arts, has made announcements today about its latest efforts to support the UK games industry.

At Creative England: Live today, Creative England revealed that £150,000 worth of grants have been awarded to digital companies and developers that are based in Leeds, UK as an opening salvo to their Gamelab Leeds initiative.

The Gameslab Leeds initiative is a development fund created with the aim of getting projects in Leeds and the surrounding areas some assistance to get creative projects off the ground. Grants are awarded in batches of £10,000, £20,000 and £30,000.

Creative England have also revealed that they will be taking four small studios to GDC. These four include AR outfit Twelve Oaks, VR developers Fierce Kaiju, development services team BetaJester and Dreaming Methods, who describe themselves as creators of "digital fiction". This trip to GDC should give all of the companies a good chance to network and expand their business interests internationally.
