New site keeps users updated on plans for next two builds and beyond

CryEngine roadmap now available

Crytek has launched a new site designed to keep its community informed of improvements in the works for its flagship product CryEngine.

Following the launch of CryEngine V at GDC this year, the CryEngine Roadmap will offer an ongoing look at the new features and fixes that the team is currently working on, ranking each as either ‘On target’, ‘At risk’ or ‘Delayed’.

The site splits listings into three columns: two for the next builds of the engine – at the time of writing 5.2 and 5.3 – and one for long-term projects. CryEngine 5.2 is currently due for release in the next few weeks.

Each entry is then added to the relevant row depending on which team is working on the feature in question. These include animation, audio, core/system, graphics and rendering, network and tools.

Elsewhere, Crytek promises the website or its new Indie Development Fund will be live soon and open to applications. The fund has already been kicked off with $1m from Crytek, but will grow as more developers donate via the engine’s new ‘pay what you want’ model.
