What’s your game?
Our game is Reshuffle, a top-down multiplayer arcade game with strategic elements aimed for tablets. As a satirical representation of the competitive society at work, players take control of one of up to four faceless office workers in a cut-throat competition to climb the company ladder by collecting briefcases before the time runs out, all the while manipulating the office itself in order to advance, and impede the advancement of opponents.
What has the Dare experience been like?
Without a doubt Dare has been a great experience for all of us as it was the first time we could work on a game project in a specifically built environment rather than our bedrooms.
Having said that, our experience has not been without its hurdles but the assistance given to us by the mentors and Dare staff alike has been imperative to us overcoming them.
What have you learned from Dare?
Dare has really taught us to be prepared for every scenario as well as how to delegate work efficiently depending on each team member’s core strengths. As one of our programmers often mentions, “Work smarter, not harder” and we have truly done our best to hold on to that mantra throughout the entirety of our development.
Are you looking forward to ProtoPlay?
We’ve all dedicated quite a fair bit of time to making sure we have prepared our stall for ProtoPlay, exhausting every favour we might have been owed to make our stall the best it could ever be.
Most importantly though we are really excited to see how the ProtoPlay attendees engage with our game and more importantly how they engage with one another through Reshuffle’s four player competitive multiplayer.
What are your ambitions after Dare?
The best possible outcome after Dare to be Digital is to continue working on Reshuffle and release it as a commercial product under the banner of an independent developer or with the help of a publisher.
Ultimately though we just want to keep on making games and we’d absolutely love to be able to continue doing so in some form or another.
Dare ProtoPlay and Indie Fest is on 7th-10th August in Dundee’s Caird Hall and City Square, with all 15 Dare student games on show, as well as over 30 indie games. http://www.dareprotoplay.com/
