Columbus Nova executive Ji Ham will be taking over in the role

Daybreak CEO Russell Shanks steps down after just 16 months

Daybreak president Russell Shanks has stepped down after just 16 months at the helm.

Daybreak are known primarily for developing H1Z1 and PlanetSide 2, and Russell Shanks was the studio’s chief operating office until he stepped into the top job last July when then-CEO John Smedley stepped down after getting into a Twitter altercation with a hacker from hacking outfit Lizard Squad who grounded his plane with a bomb threat.

Russell Shanks departure from the company was broken with a statement given to Massively Overpowered, with a short statement confirming that Shanks is moving on — a glance at Shanks’ LinkedIn confirms that he left the company in October — and that Columbus Nova executive Ji Ham will be taking over in the role.

There’s no information on what’s next for Shanks or why he left Daybreak, but we’ll give you more when we have it.
