NTI Birminghamâ??s Gamer Camp: Nano looking for applicants until October 19th

Dev course extends applications deadline

NTI Birmingham’s Gamer Camp: Nano development course, running between November 8th and December 3rd, has extended it deadline for applications to October 19th.

Course organisers are seeking for trainee animators, designers and coders to apply to the £499 course, which ill be held at a Birmingham City University facility in the city centre.

Those who are accepted on to the course will be trained in the designing of an iPhone game, and work in teams to design a functioning game of their own. They will be mentored by course leader Guy Wilday, formerly director of the Sega Racing Studio.

Representatives from Blitz Games Studios, Codemasters and Rare will also be in attendance.

“The Gamer Camp programme is designed to provide graduates with a unique opportunity to get real ‘hands on’ experience of developing video games in a ‘simulated’ industry environment.” says Wilday.

“After a week of intensive tuition the Nano course delegates are divided into teams which will then go onto develop unique iPhone games under the guidance and instruction of key industry figures. At the end of the course, the games are then submitted to the App Store for approval and availability worldwide.”

Twelve positions are to be filled overall, breaking down into 8 programmers and 4 artists.

“Having recruited a host of graduates over my career, I’ve found that their skills grow enormously as a direct result of working through a complete game development cycle,” Wilday explains.

“The Gamer Camp programme is designed specifically to provide this experience.”
