Europe’s biggest game industry event has formed an official partnership with pivotal trade publications Develop and MCV.
Gamescom will now have both powerful industry publications as its media partners, bolstering the event’s international ambitions.
"This agreement with MCV and Develop underlines the wide appeal of Gamescom to the international business community," said Koelnmesse chief executive Oliver P. Kuhrt.
Gamescom 2010 takes place in Cologne from August 18th to 22nd, starting with a trade-only day on Wednesday. Last year’s event attracted 458 exhibitors from over 30 countries – with 17,000 trade visitors and a quarter of a million game enthusiasts attending.
"Gamescom was a tremendous success last year and has earned its place as the essential trade and consumer games event in Europe and beyond," said Stuart Dinsey, managing director of Develop and MCV publisher Intent Media.
"Similarly, MCV and Develop are leaders in their sectors – online and in print. We are very proud to have been selected as media partners and will help further grow Gamescom’s international reach."
Develop is the only European website and magazine dedicated to the global game development community, and is a powerful trade resource for the sector. Its daily email bulletins and website provides developers with focused news, features and guides for both powerhouse studios and solo developers.
MCV is the influential weekly print publication for the European game retail and publishing sector. Its website www.mcvuk.com is fast becoming an essential trade resource globally, being first for breaking news and industry scoops, offering superior insight into the business while giving the industry a platform for unhindered open discussion.
During the build-up to the event, both publications will offer previews and assistance for registration, trip planning and exhibitor news.
The news follows Develop’s recent announcement that it will also become an official partner for global trade event GDC.
Registration for Gamescom has already opened, with early bird rates offered until February 15th.
