For any readers who might know little, tell us a little more about your company and its goal?
Nordeus is an award-winning independent mobile games developer composed of 160 awesomely talented people.
Our football management game Top Eleven is one of the most successful online sports game ever made. With José Mourinho as its official ambassador, it has currently surpassed the 140 million registered users mark and has been played in every country in the world.
We are based in the uniquely vibrant city of Belgrade, and also have offices in London and Dublin.
Our goal is always to provide the best gaming experience to millions of our players across the globe.
What differentiates you from similar outfits?
A very important part of who we are, and what differentiates us from others, is our culture: it is open, dynamic, collaborative and characterised by a one for all, all for one mindset.
Not only do we work in small teams that are empowered with creative freedom, we operate with a very flat structure.
The trust that we have for one another means that each employee irreplaceably contributes to who we are as a company and that is highly fulfilling.
What excites you about the games industry and games development today?
Now is an exciting time to be in the games industry – anything seems to be possible.
In the past few years, we’ve started to hear a lot about AR and VR, and the opportunities these new technologies will open up to app developers and gamers is immense.
For us though, we get most excited thinking about the impact we can have in our players’ lives.
By giving them experiences that are so good, so immersive and so fun that they want to tell their friends about is an absolutely amazing feeling that we love.
To keep achieving that, we are looking forward to more sophisticated games that have amazing quality art, gameplay, narrative and, most importantly, that are super fun to play.
What do you think the line-up of this year’s Develop Awards finalists says about the industry today?
Diversity among the finalists says a lot about the endless creativity within the gaming industry, across all platforms and genres.
Personally, it is particularly pleasing to see so many indie studios among the finalists as I am a huge fan of indie games and love to support the work of small studios.
Overall, I think we have had another incredibly good year behind us, and with the rise of VR, I expect we will have a new category for the awards next year.
Do you have a message for the finalists?
Congratulations to all who have been nominated. Considering the number of games that are released every year, everyone who has been shortlisted as finalist this year, can be considered a winner.
Anything else you’d like to add?
We at Nordeus are always working on making Top Eleven even better and our other game teams are working on some amazing new products, so why not come and join us in creating our next big hit?
