Could you introduce your company to our readers who might not know your role or goals?
Crytek is a company focused on delivering great gaming experiences to our players, we are both an engine developer (with CryEngine) and a game developer. We have just shown our new game at E3, Ryse – Son of Rome, which will be an Xbox One exclusive title ready for launch.

We are the creators of FarCry and Crysis, and have launched our new free-to-play game, Warface, in Russia, China, Korea and Brazil. We also have a new Homefront game in development, are working on our social gaming platform, GFace, as well as working on a number of unannounced games.

What distinguishes your company from similar outfits? In other words, what’s unique about your organisation?
The quality of the people we have working here. In the end, it is just about helping great people to do great things.

What excites and/or encourages you about the game industry today?
It feels like we are standing at the cusp of some very exciting times ahead, with a new generation of consoles and the further gamification of mobiles and tablets. A huge variety of new devices and different methods of interfacing them are going to create some really cool games that I will love playing.

Looking at the Develop Awards finalists, what does it say to you about today’s games industry?
I love the variety of games being produced at the moment. I don’t think there has ever been a time with such a range of creativity in such a wide variety of areas. I think the finalists here show that breadth of great games that are being produced at such an exciting time for the industry.

Do you have a message for the Develop Awards finalists?
Just to keep making the best games that you can.

Was there anything else you wanted to say about your company or the Develop Awards?
It’s great to have a celebration of what is good in the gaming industry, and put away our cynicism for a short time. Lets be positive, look at the great things our colleagues are doing and look forward to an exciting 12 months. Develop 2014 is going to be great too!

The Develop Awards will take place on July 10th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton.
