Below is Develop’s monthly breakdown of the world’s most successful games studios, measured by UK revenue at retail, with data provided by GfK Chart-Track.

The Develop Studios Sales Charts will be published on Develop-Online.net’s news pages at the end of each month.

Please note that digital sales are not included in the calculations, nor are retail transactions made outside the UK. The chart is intended to provide a snapshot of the most bankable studios in the world today.

Crystal Dynamics, Irrational Games and Epic took up the top three months in March with new releases Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and Gears of War: Judgment.

EA Canada continues to perform well, falling just one spot to 4th on the back of its success with FIFA 13, while Sim City comes into the list at 5th following a shaky launch for the city building title.

The US dominates the list with an impressive 11 developers from the country, with Canada bringing North America up to 14 studios in total.

Traveller’s Tales was the sole representative for the UK.

The number of independent studios featured in the top 20 has fallen from last month, making up just six of the developers compared to 14 publisher-owned companies.
