Digit Game Studios has raised $2.5 million US in series A funding.
The Dublin based company was founded by a group of industry veterans in 2012, and has already released its first a cross-platform strategy game: Kings of the Realm.
The game works on any connected device through technology the team calls "seamlessly cross-platform".
“This latest funding round will help accelerate Digit in its goal of disrupting the games industry with a new cross platform technology and awesome games,” said Digit CEO Richard Barnwell.
$2.1 million in funding came from Delta Partners, with the remainder supplied by ACT Venture Capital.
“We’ve been working with the Digit team since the company was founded and have been very impressed with the vision and understanding of games industry,” said Delta general partner Maurice Roche.
"We believe ‘seamlessly cross platform’ games will be a transformational development in the games industry and the Digit management team has the experience and drive to be a global leader in this segment"
Currently quite a small team, Digit will use the funding to double the size of its workforce, adding 25 new members to its Dublin studio.
