Microsoft inks deal with sporting goods giant; Nike+ and XBL communities to unite

E3 2012: Xbox partners with Nike

Microsoft has used it’s annual E3 press conference to reveal a deal with sporting giant Nike that will see the two collaborate on new titles and online communities.

Nike’s own Stefan Olander took to the stage to reveal game Nike+ Kinect Training, which promises to deliver ‘expert’ fitness training in the home.

The game extends Nike’s ‘+’ concept, which has previously included iOS connected running shoes to bring interactivity to jogging.

"Kinect has an amzing ability to read human body movements more than the human eye," said Olander of Nike’s interest in Kinect as a platform to extend Nike+.

The partnership will also bring together the Xbox Live and Nike+ virtual communities, in an yet to be confirmed level of cross over.
