EA's new sports franchise fired up with Ignite Engine.

E3 2013: EA enters octagon with UFC

EA’s take on the recently acquired UFC franchise is promised to be the most realistic fighting game on the market.

Held by THQ until last year, the UFC franchise will now be powered by the Ingite Engine used for the rest of EA’s Sports lineup.

"We are very excited to deliver the most realistic fighting experience ever achieved," said EA Sports UFC general manager Dean Richards.

"With a talented and experienced team at the helm, and powered by EA Sports Ignite, we’ve created a gameplay feature set for EA SPORTS UFC where every fighter, every strike, every takedown and submission will bring you inside the Octagon like no game ever has before.”

The game is set to launch on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in spring 2014, and will use the additional power of these units to ensure that the game’s faithfulness to the sport goes deeper than its graphics.

The MMai system will give each fighter not just one fight strategy, but several that can change depending on the situation.

The player will see characters fatigue over time, and damage from hits is now a non-linear system meant to capture the way a single blow can change a fight.

"I couldn’t be more excited about the work that the team at EA SPORTS has done on the upcoming UFC game," said UFC president Dana White, President.

"It’s been a great partnership and even though it is still early in development, the game looks amazing. It will be groundbreaking! Fans of all combat sports will love it and have a lot to look forward to in the spring of 2014."
