Ed Vaizey is to make what may be his first appearance at a games industry event since he became Minister for Culture at the formation of the current coalition Government.
The Minister has been confirmed to be speaking at the Develop Conference on the morning of Wednesday, July 14th, immediately after the keynote from BioWare co-founders Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka.
Despite being a vocal advocate of game development tax relief before the Tory’s recent rise to power, Vaizey and his party have been near silent on the developer tax breaks issue ever since. Could it be that Vaizey will use the Develop Conference to deliver his party’s plans for supporting the industry? The industry will wait with baited breath.
“It is fantastic that Ed Vaizey should choose Develop in Brighton, Europe’s foremost development conference, to give his first speech to the industry since coming to power," said Charles Cecil, managing director of Revolution and Develop Conference advisory board member.
"Ed was a great supporter of the games industry in opposition – we are now enormously fortunate to have such a passionate advocate of the industry at ministerial level.”
