Ride to Hell to take advantage of UK firm's real-time weather technology

Eutechnyx licenses Simul Weather SDK

Eutechnyx has licensed Simul Software’s Simul Weather SDK for its forthcoming title Ride to Hell.

The UK middleware company’s real-time weather technology, which models the whole sky to the horizon from volumetric clouds, will be used to simulate the ‘natural peculiarities of the Californian climate’ – and is the first commercial title to use the tech.

“Simul Weather is a great example of good middleware,” said Dr Andrew Perella, chief software architect of Eutechnyx.

“It does exactly what it sets out to do without imposing itself on the structure of the game engine. Additionally, Simul Software have responded quickly and flexibly to any issues we faced.”

Dr Roderick Kennedy, chief executive of Simul, added: “We are delighted to be working with Eutechnyx and look forward to seeing Simul Weather in Ride to Hell, the first major title to feature our system.”
