Five indies from around the world embark on three-month Canadian program

Execution Labs reveals accelerator cohort studios

Montreal-based accelerator Execution Labs has revealed the first studios to take part in its latest program.

The Canadian firm raised £3.3m for this pre-production accelerator back in November, and now the cohort of participating studios have set up shop in Execution Labs’ workspace.

Three of the studios – Cardboard Utopia, Nine Dots Studio and Outerminds – hail from Canada, while the other two come for as further afield. Sand Sailor Studio has traveled over from Romania, while Poupou Interactive originated in Slovenia.

Execution Labs will provide these studios with funding, guidance and more to help them build sustatinable businesses.

Most previous studios that have taken part in this accelerator program have been focused on mobile and free-to-play titles. However, the current cohort is working on more ambitious titles, such as Sand Sailor’s artistic PC and console title Black: The Fall (pictured), Nine Dots’ open world RPG Beyond the Walls, and Poupou’s "one-minute MOBA" Imanari.

"We’ve always considered Execution Labs to be platform, business model and geographically agnostic," said Execution Labs co-founder Jason Della Rocca. "Our goal is to have a huge variety of thriving XL alumni studios all over the world."
