Fabric Software has released the latest edition of its flagship software, designed to help devs build tools and applications for video games, virtual reality and visualisation.
The big new feature is Canvas, a visual programming system. Like the Fabric Engine itself, Canvas is built on the KL language that the company has developed internally. The advantage of Canvas is that it enables users to use KL and the Fabric Engine without writing a single line of code.
“Fabric Engine 2 is a major milestone for the company, finally realising the founding vision we had of creating a visual programming system that is completely portable between different applications and one that allows users of all levels to get the most out of the hardware they’re using,” said CEO Paul Doyle.
Fabric Engine 2 is available on Windows and Linux, with OS X builds available but not officially supported. The tech can even be integrated into Autodesk’s Maya.
