Bethesda's mobile game pips Candy Crush Saga and Boom Beach in rankings

Fallout Shelter third top grossing game on Android debut

Fallout Shelter has shot up to the third highest grossing game on Google Play less than a week after release.

Its Android debut has seen Bethesda’s mobile title pip another of stalwarts on Google Play’s UK top grossing charts. It currently sits above the likes of Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Boom Beach and Hay Day, but just behind Clash of Clans and Game of War – Fire Age.

According to App Annie, Fallout Shelter also achieved third spot in Canada and the USA as of August 16th in both the overall apps and games categories. It has reached a top ten position in 25 countries to date.

The mobile game was released in June during the publisher’s E3 presentation. Within a few days it was reported to be generating more money on Apple’s App Store than Candy Crush Saga, rising to second spot in the UK top grossing chart.

For comparison, King’s flagship title was said to have made $2.5m a day for the first three months of 2015.

Fallout Shelter has since slipped to 12th on the App Store however, and it remains to be seen whether its Android release will also steadily slide down the charts.
