PC and Xbox sales pass milestone; PS3, PS4 and Vita ports in the works

Fez sells over 1m copies

Fez has now sold over a million units across all platforms, Polytron has revealed.

The indie darling was one of the most highly anticipated titles in the world of indie gaming, having won multiple awards and been featured in the documentary Indie Game: The Movie.

"Fez has now sold over a million unit across all platforms," began an ecstatic post on the developer’s website.

"That’s right, a cool mil! And we couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you for buying the game! Thank you for stealing it! Thank you for telling your friends about it! Thank you for buying it again when it came out on PC!”

“Thank you for boycotting it so well! Thank you for putting up with the bullshit! Thank you for all your love letters, fan art, cosplays and freakin’ tattoos you got, you crazy bastards! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Fez was released last year on Xbox Live and largely lived up to the hype, though its sales were slowed by a save-destroying bug that the game’s creator, Phil Fish, said couldn’t be fixed due to the high costs of patching a game on Microsoft’s service.

Since then Polystron has released the game on PC, and has promised the game will arrive on the PlayStation 3 and 4 as well as the handheld Vita.

Though sales have obviously been quite strong, Fish chose to cancel the sequel and retire from the games industry earlier this year.
