Regency Picture's upcoming movie 'In Time' cross-promoted with iPhone game

Film tie-ins come to iOS with new Timberlake flick

An app based on the sci-fi thriller In Time starring Justin Timberlake has been released on iOS.

Developed by Chicago studio Robomodo, the In Time app features HD visuals and “authentic sights, sounds and action” from the movie.

“We really enjoyed distilling the high-adrenaline action of In Time into an exciting gaming experience that enables the player to feel the film’s urgency in a really unique way,” said Robomodo CEO David Michicich.

Robomodo is perhaps best known for its recent work on the Tony Hawks games for Activision.

The app was developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3, and is one of an increasing number of apps bringing HD graphics to the iOS platform, such as Crystalised’s Desert Zombie and Epic’s own Infinity Blade.

Michicich said: “Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 was essential to creating the immersive and immediate gameplay we wanted to prove were possible for this addictive, pick-up and play mobile game.”

Written and directed by The Truman Show and Gattaca writer Andrew Niccol, the sci-fi thriller In Time centres on a future where time is a finite commodity and people stop aging at 25, but are engineered to live only one more year.

Other iOS games that promote their film counterparts include Transformers and Captain America.
