FPS Creator Reloaded, the entry-level game engine, has been accepted onto Steam thanks to the support of the service’s community.
A beta version of the engine was released in October 2013, and that current version will now appear on Steam Greenlight.
The makers have been crowdfunding development of the engine, which has so far had a positive reception from some early adopters.
“This is the first significant step towards developing our vision of the ultimate game creator,” said Lee Bamber, CEO and lead developer at The Game Creators.
“FPS Creator Reloaded is set to raise the bar and provide the easiest, most flexible and visually stunning way to create and sell your own games. In the coming months and with help from our enthusiastic community we are pioneering an exciting technology.”
The engine has been designed to be easy-to-use for creating 3D game environment with its terrain editor.
In 2014, development of the engine has been accelerated with new team members working on new modules, such as Oculus Rift support, media importing, scripting and an a construction kit editor.
“We’re thrilled to be included onto Steam and are now working to publish an Early Access version as soon as possible.” added Rick Vanner, development director at The Game Creators.
FPS Creator isn’t the only tool that’s made its way to Steam this week. Leadwerks, another 3D game engine, also arrived on the service.
