Microsoft, Monumental and Assyria offering lectures at no charge

Free speaker sessions at Develop Conference

This year’s Develop Conference will for the first time offer a range of free lectures aimed to give guidance to aspiring young studios.

The 13-15 July event will host eight 30-minute workshops, each focusing on the practicalities of setting up a new studio. These will be free to attend, and take place alongside the 80-plus speaker sessions locked in for the pivotal trade event.

Across the three-day event attendees will be able to go to top-line lectures from the likes of BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, DoubleFine’s Tim Schafer, Google’s Chris Pruett, Rare’s George Andreas and execs from PopCap, Activision and the BBC.

The event programme can be found here.

The free sessions to complement this features talks from the likes of Monumental Games, Assyria Game Studio and Microsoft. The full list can be found below.

“A quick look at the marketplace now and it’s plain to see there is a far greater number of micro-studios and wanna-be micro studios out there compared to, say, twelve months ago,” commented Andy Lane, managing director of organiser Tandem Events.

“By offering these guys the advice and expertise they need to take advantage of current market opportunities, we can help them become businesses that can flourish in the future.”

Visit the Develop Conference’s website for more info.

The Develop Conference opens on Tuesday July 13th, and on the evening of Wednesday Intent Media will be hosting its fifth annual Develop Awards event.
