Frontier Developments reveals its next game will be based on “enduring” film series

Frontier Developments, the developer behind Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster, has hinted that their next franchise will be based on a famous Hollywood license.

The British games outfit didn’t reveal which film property when the news emerged in a press release on the London Stock Exchange website, however it did mention that the new franchise, the studio’s third, would be based on an "enduring" film series.

"We have chosen to license this particular IP to work with as our third franchise, because we believe we can create something very special," said Frontier Developments chief executive, David Braben. "It is creatively stimulating, already has a high worldwide profile, and is a perfect match for our expertise."

We’ve reached out to Frontier Developments for comment and we’ll update the story if they respond.
