Emergent celebrates success as it sees over 330 products being developed with engine

Gamebryo gaining ground

Emergent Game Technologies is celebrating the success of its Gamebryo game middleware, now in use by over 140 companies across four continents.

Current statistics released by the company indicate that Gamebryo has been used in 250 shipped titles and a further 330 that are in development, including Splatterhouse, Blood Bowl, and Sid Meir’s Civilization IV: Colonization. It’s also being used by Indian developer Aurona, the first of SCEE’s recent Indian deals to be signed.

The engine was recently updated to version 2.5, expanding its Floodgate multi-processor manager to underpin the whole engine and thus improve performance on contemporary consoles and PCs.

Emergent CEO Geoffrey Selzer, however, puts the success down to the support structure available for licensees, which includes thousands of pages of linked documentation.
