GameMaker Studio 2 adds Amazon Appstore support for Fire products

Following on from the support for Xbox’s UWP, GameMaker Studio 2 is adding support for more platforms. Amazon’s Appstore is next on the list for the YoYo Games engine.

The new Amazon Fire edition of the engine will have access to all current and future Amazon APIs including reporting and the ability to use in-app purchases. The support for the new platform is available with a free 60-day trial for testing functionality and will be charged thereafter as part of the ‘Mobile ‘ package. All software made will be compatible with the full range of Amazon Fire devices, including the TV stick and tablets.

We even made sure to give developers an effortless way to deploy their games to other mobile platforms – just pay the difference to upgrade the license to the Mobile version, and you’ll be taking advantage of GameMaker Studio 2’s incredibly easy-to-use multi-platform support in no time.”

This is the latest in a long line of supported platforms for GameMaker Studio 2 which is slowly catching up with Unity with regards to the number of platforms supported. As well as the aforementioned Universal Windows Platform support recently announced, there’s support for HTML5, PS4, Xbox One, Windows, OS X Ubuntu and other mobile platforms such as iOS and Android.

A native Mac OS version of the engine was recently released as well, giving Mac users to the ability to develop using the engine with identical software as the PC version.
