GDC Play expo returns in 2013

The GDC Play expo for emerging and independent developers will again take place at GDC in 2013.

This will be the second Play showcase, after its well-received debut in 2012, and will take place from March 26th to 28th at San Francisco’s Moscone Center during GDC 2013.

GDC Play 2013 will be in the South Hall’s Gateway Ballroom, in a prominent position directly opposite the main GDC Expo floor – which should offer exhibiting developers more opportunities to target the 20,000-plus attendees at the show.

The expo was inspired by the Independent Games Festival Pavilion at GDC and allows exhibitors to display their games to key distributors, publishers, press and investors visiting the conference.

When signing up for GDC Play, game creators will be given a standalone kiosk with a monitor, keyboard and speakers. An internet connection can be provided at an additional charge.

The event will also include a special VIP reception for publishers, funders and other notables to view the games and talk to the developers.

GDC Play exhibitors will have access to the soon-to-launch GDC 2013 Business Matching software, used to identify, contact and request and receive meetings with major publishers, distributors, All-Access Pass holders and exhibitors attending the event.

Additionally, companies registered for the upcoming GDC Play will have their listing and logo promoted to over 60,000 key GDC subscribers via pre-show media promotions.
