Earlybird discount deadline for February event nears

GDC08 ramp up begins

There are just six weeks to go until GDC 08.

Running from February 18th to 22nd, the event one again takes place in San Francisco at the Moscone Conference Center.

With a digital preview guide now live on the official site shortly, plans have been building to put together a key event for the global games development industry over the past months, with key talks from Dave Jones, the team working on Spielberg’s EA titles, the creative mind behind TV’s Heroes and other well-known developers already confirmed. Track highlights and advisory board choices are also available to read at the official site too.

The event also features a bolstered focus on games development’s fast-growing new sectors, with dedicated summits for online worlds, outsourcing, indie games, casual games and mobile games all set to run.

Attendees are also invited to join the new myGDC social networking site which, along with a new simplified pass structure, has been designed to improve access and networking at the conference.

Jamil Moledina, executive director of the event, told Develop that the key aim for the 2008 Game Developers Conference was to promote ‘learning, inspiration and networking’.

"To help attendees stay ahead of the curve, we are building focused content on online worlds, outsourcing, and indie, casual, serious, and mobile games," he said. "This way, the whole week of GDC delivers the learning, inspiration, and networking for you to thrive in the evolving game industry."

30 per cent savings on registration costs are available to those buying passes before January 16th – head to the official site to find out more.
