New branch to offer support for Enlighten to development teams in the US and Canada

Geomerics opens Vancouver office

Lighting tech specialist Geomerics has opened a new office in Vancouver.

The office will focus on offering support for its lighting tech Enlighten to development teams in the US and Canada.

Enlighten has been used in a number of titles such as Battlefield 3, Eve Online and Need for Speed: The Run, and will also be used by BioWare in upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon Age 3.

“When we looked at locations for a new office to support US and Canadian customers, Vancouver quickly emerged as the natural choice,” said Geomerics Sales VP Rob Precious.

“We already have a number of customers with studios in Vancouver, including Electronic Arts, and it’s an important and natural hub of development talent for the video games industry. Combined with our Cambridge headquarters and Seoul office, it enables us to offer instant support around the clock to all parts of the globe.

“The authorities in Vancouver continue to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, and have really worked hard to minimise the paperwork in setting up our new office.”

Geomerics CEO Gary Lewis added: “Opening up a Vancouver office demonstrates our commitment to growing the customer base for our lighting technology, Enlighten, as we start to enter a new generation for games. With the number of video game platforms expanding dramatically, the need for high-quality middleware has never been greater. 2012 was a year of solid growth for us, and we are looking forward to a hugely exciting 2013.”
