Peter Molyneux’s Kickstarter for Project Godus has raised more than £50,000 in the last 24 hours as the crowdfunding campaign comes to a dramatic close.
As of 2pm yesterday, the god game had raised just under £375,000 of its £450,000 goal, with it looking increasingly likely the title could struggle to meet its target.
However with just 55 hours left, and an extra 1,300 backers since yesterday, the 22Cans-developed title has now raised nearly £420,000 from 13,276 donations and needs just another £30,000 to get the greenlight for full development.
The rise of interest in the project appears to have been spurred on by the title’s prototype video, released yesterday, showing off proof of concept and early game features.
The late surge could also be attributed to the fact the title is in the closing stages of its Kickstarter campaign, a point when traditionally projects have received increased backing.
The late surge in support echoes others Kickstarters such as Primer Labs’ Code Hero, which drew in over $90,000 in six days to meet its funding goal with just 45 hours to spare.
Simon Roth’s own god game Maia also received a late jump in backing as the project gained £40,000 in a single weekend to make it over the line and hit its £100,000 target.
