Weekly celebrity publication OK! is to publish its own social gaming app that links its online readers to various Facebook games.
The Richard Desmond-owned magazine will publicise Facebook games from its website, in a bid to tap into so-called ‘gaming matriarchy’ that has fuelled the growth of social games.
Executives at Zynga, the most successful social games company in the west by valuation, have on numerous occasions claimed that housewives and female thirtysomethings have been central in boosting company fortunes.
OK! has commissioned London studio TeePee to develop and operate the Facebook games service.
TeePee is also developing an ‘OK! Games’ Android app, offering access to about 200 mobile games.
“This is a great venture for TeePee Games and it really shows off our proprietary technology,” said the developer’s CEO Tony Pearce.
