German city continues to grow with 500 open vacancies

Hamburg could be Europe’s dev hotspot

The north-German city of Hamburg could be the biggest game development cluster in Europe, new data suggests.

Growing games firms such as Bigpoint have helped the city inhabit some 3,000 professionals in the games development business.

The figures were cited by Achim Quinke, managing director of German business network Achim Quinke.

“We are very in touch with the local games companies so we can calculate current employment figures quite exactly,” he told Develop.

Mr Quinke was speaking at Casual Connect Europe, a major games industry event taking place this week in Hamburg.

He added that Hamburg “currently has around 500 open positions. So our industry is still growing fast.”
