HTML5 game engine PlayCanvas launches in Japan

Cloud-based HTML5 game engine PlayCanvas has been officially launched in Japan.

The UK firm has partnered with internet services provider GMO Cloud, which will be the exclusive reseller for PlayCanvas tech in Japan. It will provide dedicated sales, marketing and support teams for developers in the country’s games and creative sectors.

All website materials and developer resources have been translated to Japanese.

To date, PlayCanvas has been used by 55,000 developers in 126 countries.

“Now that we have signed GMO Cloud as our exclusive reseller for Japan, we have a fantastic team of experts that can promote and support PlayCanvas in the local language and time zone,” said PlayCanvas CEO Will Eastcott.

“Finally, Japanese developers are able to take full advantage of 3D on the mobile web. PlayCanvas is delighted to have found the perfect partner to bring our technology to the vast Japanese developer ecosystem.”
