Our Scotland special concludes with two studio profiles

In focus: Rockstar North and Realtime Worlds

Over the past week Develop has taken a look at the Scottish games industry, the initiatives that set the country apart from it’s counterparts, and the events and company’s that define it.

Today, as our Scotland special draws to a close, we’ve profiled two of the country’s most famous and productive development houses.

Rockstar North
, which continues to court sensationalist headlines and huge sales thanks to the Grant Theft Auto series, is detailed in profile.

Along with Rockstar North, Dundee’s Realtime Worlds is profiled, in which studio manager Colin Macdonald details the studios inner workings.

“As hopefully anyone who’s seen an APB demo already will attest, we’ve got some amazing proprietary technology,” said Macdonald, talking about Realtime World’s forthcoming game. “The one most talked about on APB being the character customisation system which has been in development since the start of APB, for about five years now. In terms of benefits, I think being the envy of the industry is a pretty good one.”
