PC game Abandon Ship by Fireblade Software and VR game Loco Dojo by Make Real have won the seventh Indie Showcase awards, sponsored by Unity.
Over 100 games were entered into the competition, which was then whittled down to a shortlist of ten by the chair of the judging panel, Adam Green. The developers were given a free booth on the expo floor and attendees could play and vote for their games. Abandon Ship won the Judges vote and Loco Dojo win was decided using the show attendee vote.
“The standard of games at this year’s Indie Showcase at Develop:Brighton have been exceptional and we are delighted to see the number of different platforms being developed on, from mobile to PC and VR," said Unity’s lead of evangelism EMEA, Josh Naylor. "The competition is a great opportunity to show the level of creativity in today’s industry. Thank you to all those who submitted and shortlisted and congratulations to the winners.”
Abandon Ship by Fireblade Software is a single-player game where you take control of a ship and its crew, sailing around a procedurally generated world with quests and random events.
Loco Dojo for the Oculus Rift uses the Touch controls to turn an interactive board game into one of sixteen minigames and also features actor Brian Blessed as the Grand Sensei character.
