New product will help devs build games with Ink scripting language

Inkle Studios releases free Inky scripting editor

UK indie Inkle Studios has released a new editor Inky, designed to aid developers creating narrative-driven games.

The editor is based on the firm’s Ink scripting language, which went open source earlier this year. The language forms the basis of Inkle’s acclaimed titles 80 Days and Sorcery.

GamaSutra reports that Inky features a code editor, compiler and a range of other tools. The studio’s Joseph Humfrey has warned users that the product is still in alpha and “will have bugs – you have been warned”.

Inky is now available via GitHub.

We spoke to Inkle Studios about why they released the Ink language to all devs. You can read the full interview here.
