Applifier launches discoverability tool for games on the social network

Is this the solution to Facebook fragmentation?

A new tool from Applifier has launched a new app for Facebook gamers that helps them better discover and follow games on the social network.

With the Facebook games category and audience growing a clip, developers face real fears about fragmentation and their app not finding an audience.

Applifier’s ‘Games on Applifier’ toolbar steps around that by creating ‘discovery stories’ in user’s news feeds, generating top games lists, and tracking stats across games.

The app comes from Applifier’s suite of cross-promotion for publishers, akin to the proprietary tools the likes of Zynga use on their games, but open to third-parties. 100m clicks have already been generated through the original service.

The firm says that the new Games toolbar helps improve retention of players, allowing them to follow games they like, see what their friends are doing and, most importantly, receive messages from app publishers and developers via an Inbox tool.

An opt in service (so as to avoid the thorny issue of spammed feeds) the Inbox comes with a free API for publishers allowing them to send messages to the 55m monthly users that are already plugged into Applifier’s cross-promotion app.

The Inbox API is live now, and is rolled out to users in two weeks.
