Series creator believes working on franchise will help studio gain media attention

Jason Hall seeking indie dev to make Condemned 3

One indie developer could take the reigns of the Condemned franchise, according to its creator.

Jason Hall, former CEO and founder of series developer Monolith Productions, posted on Facebook that he is gauging player interest in a new instalment – and seeking an independent studio to make it.

Polygon reports that Hall is "consistently asked when a third [Condemned] game might be created", with the last entry released back in 2008.

Monolith has, of course, just finished work on the widely acclaimed Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor but with plenty of other projects to be working on – including a sequel to the Tolkien hit, no doubt – Hall said he is unable to give the time and resources needed to Condemned.

"Since I am focused on other things, and will be for quite some time, this franchise is just sitting there," he said. "I am contemplating finding an interested and prove indie development team and providing it to them, so that they can take over the franchise and move it forward."

Hall has also said that this project could be a shot in the arm for the chosen indie, given that "it can be very hard to get marketing/media attention" and Condemned is "already quite known, has market demand, and is in an innovative genre/category".

Both previous games, published by Sega, were first-person action games with a focus on psychological horror and the forensic investigation of crime scenes.
